Preparing for Hope, Fire and Casi's Calf

The scrimmage against El Dorado was not as good as I had hoped.  They are the defending 6A champions and returned 8 starters on offense.  They were big and fast.  They broke 3 long scoring plays on us.  I think that this was a pretty good wake up call for us.  Hope has a new head coach this year but they look pretty good in their scrimmage against Crossett.  They have a lot of speed at the skill positions.  I wish that we were at home nut we will be on the road this Friday night.  I hope Marla doesn't get in trouble for wearing orange to the game since she teaches in the Elementary school in Hope.  We had a great practice yesterday, made corrections and put together a plan for Hope.  I will touch it up on Sunday and be ready for a great week on Monday.

Thursday afternoon there was a fire in the old historic part of downtown Nashville.  It burned almost an entire block completely to the ground.  Most of our football team was down there helping to empty a furniture store before the fire could get to it.  Two of our church members had businesses affected by the fire (one was a complete loss).  Fortunately, no one was injured.

Casi is adjusting to school (block schedule with 1.5 hour classes) and seeking to make to new friends.  Civics/Economics, Geometry, and Physical Science are the 3 classes she is taking this semester and don't let me forget Basketball.  She reported to practice without having worked out much this summer.  She is paying for it now!  She is so sore from running, jumping, bleachers, and weight lifting that she could barely move.  Her right calf may never recover as she limps around with an ice bag strapped to it each evening.  I know that she will survive it and I think that she will really enjoy being in great shape when the season rolls around.

Life is good and I am glad to be in Nashville.

  1. Poor Casi. Calf pain is the worst. Tell her to keep working hard though. It will all pay off. She is young so she will bounce back! Ha.

Glad you are enjoying Nashville. We cant wait to come watch your team play.

We will be praying for those that lost businesses and so much more in the fire.

Glad to hear you all are enjoying yourselves. We will see you next week!! :D

  3. Glad to hear things are going so well. There was no doubt that it would though with how your move came about and your response to such a calling. It is such a cool thing that the football team is active in protecting (as well as providing entertainment for) the community. Hope you smash the hope out of Hope. We are looking forward to seeing you guys.
    Much love
